Key Streams of the Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

There are several streams under this visa, each with different eligibility requirements:

  1. Tourist Stream (Inside & Outside Australia)

    • For people traveling for leisure or visiting family/friends.
    • Can be applied for inside or outside Australia.
    • Stay period varies (usually up to 3, 6, or 12 months).

  2. Business Visitor Stream

    • For individuals visiting for short-term business activities (e.g., meetings, conferences).
    • Work is not permitted, except for business-related activities.
    • Usually valid for up to 3 months.

  3. Sponsored Family Stream

    • Requires an eligible Australian citizen or permanent resident sponsor.
    • A security bond may be required.
    • Typically for family visits only.

      Approved Destination Status (ADS) Stream

      • For Chinese citizens traveling as part of an organized tour.
      • Must apply through an approved travel agent.
